(MoJ) is a major government department, at the heart of the UK justice system. MoJ work to protect and advance the principles of justice. The MoJ’s vision is to deliver a world-class justice system that works for everyone in society. The Design Exchange Partnership is in collaboration with the Ecology and Sustainability team within MoJ.

Kier are a leading provider of infrastructure services, construction and property developments. The Design Exchange Partnership collaboration with Kier is in relation Kier’s award of a £683.8m contract from the Scottish Government to deliver a major new prison project that will provide a much-needed replacement for Scotland’s largest prison, the 143-year-old HMP Barlinnie. The DEP team liaise with Kier to support the provision of green spaces for HMP Glasgow.

Scottish Prison Service

The Scottish Prison Service (SPS) is an Executive Agency of the Scottish Government. There are seventeen operational prisons located across Scotland: sixteen directly operated by SPS and one operated by a private sector operator under contract to SPS. SPS directly employ around 4,900 staff, are responsible for those who are committed to their care by the Courts, and are accountable to the Scottish Parliament for the delivery of custodial care in accordance with The Prisons and Young Offenders Institutions (Scotland) Rules 2011.
